10 Downing Street is the official residence of the British Prime Minister. This street photo was made in 1972 when you could literally walk upto the front door. For me it’s the gestures and interaction of the two guards that make this image.

In the late 1980’s the street was made into a dead end, with fencing and a gate installed to keep people away from the residence. This virtually ended routine public access. Tourists and others can now only get within a few hundred yards of the front door without permission.
